Guardians was written after I climbed a mountain behind a cabin (where I was writing and recording) in the north of Iceland. It was a incredible experience and inspiring, however, little to my knowledge, the other side of the mountain was dangerous to descend and I almost fell to my demise. I only discovered later that no one climbed down this side of the particular mountain. I couldn't forget this experience and wrote the song the following days after while in the cabin.

I recorded the bones of the song as a live demo and later finished it in Berlin with musicians I had met randomly in the apartment building where I was living.
